===Conversion of video from wmv to mp4 format ===

Most of the time, when we dub the tutorials into other languages we find that the filesize of the resultant tutorial is high.  Since, these dubbed tutorials will not be used for dubbing into any other language (always use the original tutorial for dubbing purpose), here is a method by which one can reduce the filesize of the dubbed tutorial.

Ideally, save the movie in '''BEST QUALITY''' in Windows Movie Maker.  Then convert the output '''.wmv''' file to '''mp4''' format using '''ANY VIDEO CONVERTOR'''.    The settings for this are as follows –

#Output Profile – Mobile Phone MPEG-4 Movie (*.mp4)

#Video Options

#* Video Codec – mpeg4

#* Frame Size – 640X480  or  720X540

#* Video bitrate – 128 or 256 (go higher if the video quality is bad)

#* Frames per second – 15

#Audio Options

#* Audio Codec – aac

#* Audio bitrate – 64

#* Sample Rate – 11025 or 22050 (go higher if the audio quality is bad)

#* Audio Channel –  2

#* Disable Audio – No

#* A/V Sync – Basic

  5. Choose the script you want to dub and get a confirmation from us     [administrator@spoken-tutorial.org]
  6. Read it a couple of times to understand the content explained
  7. If in doubt, please email your queries     [administrator@spoken-tutorial.org]

For any assistance, please contact us.

Stage 1

  1. Translate the script sentence by sentence
  2. Take enough care to see that each sentence when translated takes same or lesser time to read out than the original sentence
  3. In some cases, you may merge 2 sentences in the translation so as to match the timing of the original 2 sentences
  4. Use simple and precise words while translating
  5. Retain common words like window, mouse, cursor, etc. in English
  6. Read out the entire translated script and confirm the timing of each sentence again
  7. Review the translated script against the Dubbers' Checklist and make the required modifications
  8. To type the script in the wiki
    • Download the Google Indic Transliteration plugin from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8731/
    • Follow the instructions and install the plugin in Firefox. (This works only in Firefox 3.6 version)
    • Type your script on the wiki-page assigned to it
    • Create a page if it does not exist. Click on "create" tab
    • If the page already exists, click on the "edit" tab
    • Once in the text box, click within
    • This will reveal the indic fonts in a small drop-down box on the top RHS of the text box
    • Choose the appropriate font and type your script
    • You have to type in English. Eg- main ladki hoon will transliterate as मैं लड़की हूँ
  9. To upload the script on the wiki
    • Click on "Upload file" on the LHS of the wiki (toolbox panel)
    • Choose the file you want to upload
    • Give it an appropriate name with the correct path
    • Click on upload
    • Copy the link of the uploaded file and link it to the corresponding language on the script page of the chosen topic
    • Verify that the link works properly

  2. Once again follow all the tips given in Guidelines on Narration
  3. View the original tutorial
  4. Make a note of the begin time of each sentence in the original
  5. Record the script sentence by sentence giving an appropriate pause between sentences
  6. Finish the entire recording in one go
  7. Now split the audio at the noted time intervals (step 4)
  8. Starting from the last one, slide the audio clip to sync with the corresponding video/activity on the screen.
For more details, please watch How to Dub
  9. Do this till all the audio clips are placed at the noted time intervals
  10. Play the whole movie back and confirm that the dubbed audio and video are in sync
